Library Computers

We have three dedicated adult/student computer labs plus separate Children’s Labs so everyone has access in an environment suitable to their needs.

Each computer lab has access to our Online Databases, Available Software, as well as Print, Scan and Fax. Stop in to any of our computer labs today and our staff will be happy to assist you and answer your technical questions. Computer Classes and One-to-One Assistance are offered on a regular basis to provide more in-depth learning.

Wi-Fi

You will need a device equipped with a compatible wireless network card. Simply connect to the SSID NapervillePublicLibrary and you’re all set. For more tips on using our wireless Internet, click on Wi-Fi.

Help Hints on Using the Computer Labs

• LIBRARY CARD & PIN: You just need to have a current library card and have signed the Internet User’s Agreement at any patron registration desk.

• INTERNET FILTERING LEVEL: You can stop by the patron registration desk to sign up for or change your filtering level. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the agreement. If you do not wish to sign the Internet User’s Agreement, you can request a computer in the lab with Microsoft Office Suite and no internet.

• VISITORS: If you have a card at another Illinois library, you can register that card at one of our patron registration desks to become a reciprocal borrower that has full access to our computers. If you do not have a card from another library, you can ask for an Express Pass for visitors. Anyone under 18 can ask for a 1-hour Express Pass with no internet. Anyone 18 and older can also ask for a 1-hour Express Pass with unfiltered internet access. Visitors are limited to one Express Pass per patron per day.

• SOFTWARE: We have free professional software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, and adaptive aoftware for use by the visually and hearing impaired. For more information, check Available Software.

• TIME: Lab usage is limited to 3 hours per day Monday through Saturday and 1.5 hours on Sunday. You can request a time extension at the computer lab staff desk if the lab is not full.

• PRINTING: Printing costs $0.10 per page for black & white; and color printing costs $0.25 per page.

• COMPUTER ASSISTANCE: The Computer lab Staff offers assistance with logging onto a computer, helping with programs, and solving technical difficulties.

• SAVING YOUR WORK: When creating your own documents, save your work often. Our computers automatically remove all work when the computer reboots at the end of a day, so please save your files to a flash drive, CD, or an e-mail attachment.

• CD AND FLASH DRIVE: We have blank CDs for sale for $1 and 2 GB flash drives for sale for $10.
